SEEDI Conference at CPN

Within ”May, Month of Mathematics”, the 9th SEEDI international conference was held under the name ”Digitization of Scientific and Cultural Heritage”. [:]

National Center for Digitization, as a part of an international cooperation, held a SEEDI conference (” Initiative for Digitization in the South-Eastern European Countries”), on May 15-16, at the CPN’s Science Club, Knez Mihailova Street 5.

The conference was held as a part of  ”May, Month of Mathematics”, the biggest national event promoting pop-science, and it was organized by CPN.

The aim of the SEEDI conference is to develop awareness about digitizing cultural and scientific heritage in the South-Eastern European countries. The organizers feel that these gatherings will contribute in collecting and disseminating specific and interdisciplinary knowledge from various regional and EU institutions.

This international conference is a result of a cooperation between researchers from Belgrade and Sofia.

National Center for Digitization (NCD) is a consortium that gathers some of the leading Serbian Cultural and Scientific Institutions, founded with the aim to analyze and solve the problem of digitization of cultural and scientific heritage.

Ever since the initiative to establish NCD, in 2002, the main idea was to form a consortium of the leading Serbian Cultural and Scientific Institutions that are involved in digitization of heritage.

At this moment, the consortium consists of:

  • Mathematical Institute SASA (Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts)
  • Faculty of Mathematics, Belgrade University
  • The National Library of Serbia
  • The National Museum in Belgrade
  • Archeological Institute
  • The Archives of Serbia
  • State Institute for Cultural Landmark Protection
  • Yugoslav Film Archive
