CPN raised one of the most significant issues of modern bioethics, the issue of organ transplantation. A panel on this subject was held on Wednesday, April 16, at 7:30pm, at Kolarac. The panel was titled ”Organ donation: a good deed after death”.

The panel discussion was focused on resolving many important issues and dilemmas regarding transplant surgery and organ donation. A large number of visitors, who didn’t mind the rain and the bad weather, signed their donor cards on the spot. The panel also hosted the actor, Sergej Trifunović, as a special guest.

Why do we even fear organ donation? What are the bioethical aspects of forming a waiting list? Is it, and if so, why is it necessary to change regulations regarding organ donation? What is the current state of transplant medicine in Serbia, and across the world?

These are just some of the questions discussed at the panel organized by CPN in cooperation with Cambridge Bioethics Education Groups.

Panelists:

  • PhD Prof. Đoko Maksić, Transplant Coordinator VMA
  • PhD Prof. Zvonko Magić, Chief of the Institute for Medical Research, VMA
  • PhD Prof. Vojin Rakić, Director of the Center for Bioethical Studies
  • Dr. Aleksandra Vlačić, Department of Biomedicine
